Sono state annunciate le candidature ai prossimi Academy Awards che si terranno a Los Angeles il prossimo 25 Aprile. I premi chiuderanno un anno cinematograficamente insolito che verrà però ricordato anche per un prezioso record: per la prima volta nella storia sono state candidate alla miglior regia due donne (Chloé Zhao e Emerald Fennell). 

Nulla da fare per Notturno che non è stato inserito nella rosa dei miglior documentari. L'Italia è comunque presente con due candidature per Pinocchio (guarda la video recensione) (costumi e make up) e una per la miglior canzone originale grazie a "Io sì" cantata da Laura Pausini nel film La vita davanti a sé.
