ha cominciato a girare film nella metà degli anni '60 a New York. Verso la fine del decennio, si è trasferito in Europa assieme all'amico e regista Gregory J. Markopoulos, con cui ha vissuto fino alla morte di quest'ultimo, avvenuta nel 1992. Dal 1994 Beavers ha registrato nuove colonne sonore per il suo ciclo di 18 film My Hand Outstretched to the Winged Distance and Sightless Measure. La serie include Early Monthly Segments (1970-2002), From the Notebook of... (1971-1998), The Painting (1972-1999), Ruskin (1974-1998), Sotiros (1977-1996), Amor (1980), The Ground (2001) e The Hedge Theater (2002).
