With the acting power of Ian McShane, Stephen Dillane, Tom Wilkinson and John Hurt joining Winstone in a swearing challenge that could make David Mamet blush, 44 Inch Chest had the makings of the next Sexy Beast, [...] Vai alla recensione »
Writer-playwrights Louis Mellis and David Scinto have a way with deconstructing masculine ferociousness -- relishing in revealing the follies of machismo in extremis. First, with "Sexy Beast," in which Ray Winstone played a retired gangster living in luxury when a surpassingly menacing, insinuating Ben Kingsley descends upon him. And now with "44 Inch Chest," again starring Winstone, who this time [...] Vai alla recensione »
The new British movie "44 Inch Chest" is a very strange, often terrible affair that is nevertheless mesmerizing, in a limited way. Five of the best actors in England have been handed a ranting, foulmouthed script by Louis Mellis and David Scinto, the same vituperative pair who wrote the wonderful "Sexy Beast," in 2000. As in that movie, the actor Ray Winstone is the loving husband at the center of [...] Vai alla recensione »
