A LEFTY, bleeding-heart academic Robert Blecker is not. His writings include “Vote No!,” a play that suggests the ratification of the Constitution was not quite the proud moment in American history that we are taught to believe. But Mr. Blecker is best known for his loud and passionate defense of the death penalty, in legal meditations like “Killing Them Softly,” a stance that has made him something of an outlier in the academy.
