An insult to lovers of both dogs and romcoms

Patrick is a film that desperately wants to hit that tricky spot somewhere between genuine romcom tenderness and stuffy English cringe, a place that Four Weddings and Love Actually call home, and does little to try and hide it.
A character is seen watching Notting Hill, songs from Bridget Jones are used as music cues, and London is photographed so grandly that the film could double as a tourism ad.
Anyone with a fondness for the big-budget British romcoms of yesteryear will want Patrick to somehow pull it off. [...]
