Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" is what my mother would have called a kakabarly—a large, foaming broth into which she emptied the forlorn and highly miscellaneous contents of her icebox. The plot of this family comedy is nominal; it's barely a premise. Ben Stiller is back with his beloved stuffed and wax figures and other statues, miniatures, and artifacts—only not at the American Museum of Natural History this time but in the basement of the Smithsonian complex (which includes a mockup of the National Gallery), where they have been shipped.
