“TERMINATOR SALVATION,” the fourth and latest film in the “Terminator” franchise, is the first to devote much of its screen time to a landscape in ruins.
It’s set in 2018, 14 years after Judgment Day, that apocalyptic moment when Skynet, the artificial intelligence system created to defend the United States from attack, became self-aware and launched nuclear bombs to destroy the human race.
