di Peter Travers Rolling Stone

Tracing A Chorus Line from its creation in 1974 by Michael Bennett and his dancers to its 2006 Broadway revival, Every Little Step is a thrilling combination of documentary and musical dazzler. Directors James D. Stern and Adam Del Deo find the show's core in the lyric "God, I'm a dancer/A dancer dances!" A heartbreaker. Da Rolling Stone, 16 aprile 2009 »

What They Did for Work (Love, Too)

di A. O. Scott The New York Times

Watching “Every Little Step,” a new documentary by James D. Stern and Adam Del Deo, is a bit like walking through a hall of mirrors. Life imitates art, art reflects life, and after a while the distinctions threaten, quite pleasantly, to blur altogether. The film follows a group of mostly young dancers and singers auditioning for parts in the recent Broadway revival of “A Chorus Line,” a musical which is itself built around the auditions of 17 mostly young Broadway-besotted dancers and singers. The premise of “Every Little Step” is no less inspired for seeming so simple and obvious, and it pays tribute to the durability and continued relevance of “A Chorus Line,” which first opened in New York in 1975, before many of the performers in the movie were born. »

The joys, jitters and rejection of 'A Chorus Line' come to life in this documentary look at casting the 2006 Broadway revival

di Kenneth Turan The Los Angeles Times

Every Little Step" doesn't do anything unexpected, and it doesn't have to. A documentary that combines the history of "A Chorus Line" with a behind-the-scenes look at how the 2006 Broadway revival was cast, it's a can't-miss effort that knows how to please. It can't miss because of the power and appeal of the original "A Chorus Line," which opened in New York in 1975 and didn't close until it had run for 6,137 performances -- still the record for an American musical on Broadway -- collecting nine Tonys and the Pulitzer Prize in the process. »
