I due protagonisti principali, Mason e Amber, si trovano a vivere una storia al limite: lui, un personaggio bizzarro e un promettente artista, lei una rgazza solitaria e problematica. Un incontro, una nuova amicizia e quando Mason propone ad Amber di ritrarla, lei ne è compiaciuta. Ma da questo momento la situazione precipita e la realtà non appare più chiara.
